Embroidery Bible

After exploring pinterest for a few hours, I have decided that it is my new favorite thing. My second-most favorite thing (also discovered today) is this embroidery tutorial website. Helpful and beautiful, it’s a great resource.

…And We’re Back

Now that life has settled into a more normal pace, the neglecting of the blog is over.

So here’s what you’ve missed:

I’m married! (more on the wedding later)

wedding

We live in a tiny town, which is a change from where I grew up. Other than not being five minutes away from my favorite bookstore, it’s actually really nice. And his (huge) family is so nice.

more beautiful books

Penguin has done it again. They’ve made yet more beautiful books that will slowly bleed my bank account dry. But it’s worth it. If you want to see them in person, try Anthropologie.

Engagement Photos

This winter has been incredibly busy. It’s probably the busiest of my entire life. Would you like to know why?

Drum roll please….

I’m getting married! Yep, you heard right. His name is Joel, and if I were to tell you how amazing he is, you’d probably stop reading after a while. So instead, here are a few of our engagement photos. They were shot by Richardson Photography, whom I highly recommend.

canada - day 2

whistler_06

Today was another exploring day. Sadly the sun started to come out, so the snow melted a bit and got all slushy and easy to slip in.

We found the library, which was really exciting. I found a few books I need to check out when I get home to my own library.

Then we got too cold, so we came back and had hot chocolate. But not just any hot chocolate. Guatemalan hot chocolate! I may not be as in touch with my roots as I should be, but I definitely appreciate the hot chocolate.

For dinner we had chicken saltimbocca, one of my favorites. The whole gang came over for dinner and a movie. Umm…Invasion of the Body Snatchers is not one of the best movies to watch when you have an overactive imagination and you aren’t at home with your usual surroundings. That being said, I definitely would watch it again.

And of course, what would a vacation be without some knitting.

canada – day 1

Hey all, this week I’ll be in Canada. Whistler, to be exact. And since every time I go on a trip and think ‘okay I’m definitely going to write about this trip when I get back’ …and then fail miserably, this time I’m going to blog while I’m here. Brilliant, yes?

It’s so beautiful here!  Like Disneyland for snow lovers. Hopefully I’ll get to ski, but it all depends on my bum knee. Today we explored Whistler a bit…

And of course the most important part of any trip, the food.

whistler_03

Ginger flavored chocolate! How awesome is that?

Now look at this drink menu. Wait for it…

…yes, that is absynthe. And apparently old prune too.

linotype documentary

“Linotype: The Film” Teaser from Linotype: The Film on Vimeo.

For all you typography/book nerds out there (both of which I am extremely guilty of), here’s a new film for you to get excited about. Doug Wilson’s documentary on the linotype machine will hopefully be out fall 2011. What is a linotype machine, you ask? Just watch the preview, obviously.

ps: Cookie for you if you know the song used for this trailer. (hint: It’s by one of my favorite bands.)

aquarium

Things have been very hectic today, what with packing for a trip back east to visit the family. I came across this video and it turned out to be a great de-stresser. This is the second-biggest aquarium in the world, and it’s too beautiful not to be shared. It’s so huge they even have multiple whale sharks!
