This weekend I’m throwing a little shindig for some girls. And of course as we all know, the best parties have actual invitations. So here are the invites I whipped up for the party. (Sorry for the fuzzy pictures. I think my camera is dying. I promise, I actually know how to focus!) Share/Save (I changed the names and address to keep everyone’s privacy) This flyer is something I designed for a friend. He and his wife served as missionaries in Brazil for over 20 years. They are visiting this weekend, and decided to share their experiences with us (and by us, I mean a whole lot of people, hence [...] These are for a friend, and they just came off the needles today. They were quite the adventure. I ended up having to write my own pattern, since nothing I found was what I needed. Lets just say there was a lot of ripping out stitches and starting over again. Good thing I’m a patient [...] My room is in the midst of a complete overhaul: rearranging furniture, new murals for the walls, a new duvet cover, etc. So when I tripped over these beauties at my favorite antique shop, I was soooo excited. They go perfectly with the room’s new look. Kind of Alice in Wonderlandish if she liked Anthropologie [...] The shoes are officially done, and they went to their new owner the other day. She was pretty excited. A bit about my process: I started out with lots of sketching…and watching the movie over and over again. Any project that involves watching movies for research is a good one. Once I felt comfortable drawing all the [...] My friend recommended this book to me, so I put it on hold at the library. Yesterday I went to pick it up, and and stared in shock/horror at the cover. This is what I saw. This doesn’t tell me anything about the book. If I saw this on a bookshelf, I would never pick it [...] I had a little time to work on the shoes this week. The toe area is all done, and the heel on one shoe. Now I just have to finish up the sides. Share/Save Sorry for the lack of posts. Getting sick on top of allergies doesn’t exactly boost productivity. Anyways. Every month or so I pool all the images I’ve saved, go through them, and pick out a few to add to my art card collection. They’re great for inspiration, and double as mini wall art. Here’s what my [...] I don’t know about you, but I can’t work without my music. Hardly a project is done without going through at least ten cycles of my latest playlist (or a couple movies) and two or three charges of my ipod. Then the other day my dad was going on about how amazing technology has become, [...] A friend of mine requested a pair of customized shoes. After mulling it over for a couple days (I’ve never worked with ink on canvas before), I got to sketching. She’s a huge Peter Pan + Tiger Lily fan, so I took that theme and ran with it.
